Africa Goal, in partnership with SAfAIDS, has developed a number of IEC materials which will be disseminated at the 2010 Africa Goal events. The materials focus on HIV prevention, taking a holistic approach to prevention. All have a World Cup theme, for example, the booklet developed for adults has a World Cup match calendar integrated into the booklet so that readers can keep track of their favourite teams whilst also learning about HIV. The key message being used in all the materials is ‘Africa Wins Every Time You Prevent HIV’.

The audience specific videos and public service anouncements that will be screened before the games and used as discussion tools, have been developed by the One Love Campaign, Staying Alive Foundation and UNAIDS.

All the following materials will be distributed in a "drawstring football bag" with HIV: Know the Score message branded onto it

HIV prevention booklet:
Includes a World Cup 2010 match calendar integrated into the booklet – so that people can keep track of the teams’ scores and, as they do so, read the HIV information in the booklets.

The adult prevention booklet covers the following topics:

- What is HIV; What is AIDS (progression)
- Transmission modes
- Why it is important to know your HIV status
- HIV risk – questions to ask yourself to assess your risk level
- Prevention (safer sex; PPTCT; PEP; reduction of risk through blood transmission)
- How to put on a condom correctly.
- Multiple concurrent partnerships 
- Positive prevention and positive living
- Prevention of parent to child transmission
- What is the effect of male circumcision on HIV infection?
- TB and HIV interlinkages
- The link between alcohol and HIV (alcohol can put you in situations where you might be at risk)

Titled ‘Jane asks about HIV’ – based on the premise that a girl goes to a clinic to ask about HIV because her brother has just been found out to be positive – covers a lot of HIV and AIDS info – in a ‘child friendly’ way – written like a cartoon / story book with illustrations and ‘speech bubbles’... also includes a World Cup 2010 match calendar with an HIV fact for the day for each day of the tournament.

The children prevention booklet covers the following topics

- General Information about HIV and AIDS
-Transmission modes (how HIV can be passed and ways that it can not be transmitted)
- Parent to child transmission
- Prevention methods
- Abuse (and PEP – post-exposure prophylaxis)
- Stigma and discrimination
- Child rights
